Indonesian Underwater Record-Breaking Independence Day Celebration
Aug 18Underwater flag-rising ceremony for Indonesian 64th Independence Day!
Those who say nationalism is dead are all wet, as more than 2,500 scuba divers set a world record on Independence Day by taking part in an underwater flag-raising ceremony in North Sulawesi.

Divers lined up underwater to attend Indonesian 64th Independence Day Ceremony which has broken Guinness World Record with as many as 2,486 divers in Malalayang Beach, Manado, on Monday, 17th August. The diving process was started around 10 am and proceeded around 30 minutes into the depths of 10 - 20 m. The world record for diving with the most participants was held by Maldives with 958 divers in year 1997.
Rear Adm. Moekhlas Sidik confirmed on Monday that 2,486 Indonesian divers and 76 foreigners participated in the event at Malalayang Beach in Manado, the provincial capital.

The challenge was part of the Sail Bunaken 2009 maritime event being held as part of Indonesia's efforts to establish the Sulawesi town of Manado as a world-class tourist spot, Navy spokesman Iskandar Sitompul said

āIām proud to announce we broke the world record for a mass dive on our Independence Day, which was the first independence commemoration to be held underwater in the world,ā he said.
The below image shows thousands of divers rejoicing and heading back to the beach after breaking the world record for the largest mass dive.

It’s Still 22nd Here
Apr 22Sometimes it's frustrating, the confusion of which day, which date the whole world is on. It's still 22nd here, but it's already 23rd in Asia. Raah. Anyway, that's not the main point of this post.

Yup, today's Earth Day. Wait, didn't earth day just pass? There has been too much of this green, earthly, conserve energy effort that I can't differentiate one form another. Not that I have anything against it, just confusing. So, earth day, what's next?

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Jan 20Today's a holiday here in US as we commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Remember the famous quote:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. "
but anyone knows he also said this:
"I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together. "
Also:
"If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty
Oct 15I have sorta committed myself to this so-called Blog Action Day 2008 on Poverty but apparently, honestly, I do not really have any thoughts to share on this. Maybe I'm just indifferent, or I just don't feel that burdened about it.
It's not that I think Poverty is not a serious problem. I live in Indonesia, not really the big city there, and I've been to little islands where people are barely making their ends meet. I think it's still kinda early for me to fight the poverty in this world when I don't think I'm even mature enough for such thing.
'Making Poverty History', in my opinion, is too idealistic a view. I think poverty will always be there, that's just life. What we can really think of, is probably how to make poverty less serious as the current ones. But again, we're just all talk no work.
Oh well, honestly, I have no idea what to write about. And I hope those reading this post, or those that know about this Blog Action Day event, those that really have strong convictions on the problem of poverty can be even more convicted, knowing that there are people in this world who are actually doing something about it.
Meanwhile, all I can think of is this:
