On John 6:27

Exam’s over and as a celebration, one wallpaper is whipped up.

It’s one verse that has hit me quite hard, so I have been contemplating on memorizing it word for word.

GMail, Facebook and Apple

The three of the most discussed “brand” on tech blogs. Besides Twitter, that is.

Well what’s new? GMail is getting more and more far ahead its ‘lousy’ competitors Ya-boo-hoo and really-not-Hotmail. GMail is totally pwning the rest. Now GMail labs comes with ‘Inbox Preview‘ while your GMail is loading.

While Gmail is loading, a simple, static preview of your inbox with your ten most recent messages is displayed. Turn it on from the Labs tab under Settings, and if you’re on a slow connection you’ll know from the start if it’s worth the wait.

Next up, Facebook. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. So many people using facebook, many more scams coming out to steal your passwords and spread the fire, steal others’ passwords. Moral of the story, never input your passwords anywhere except the url with facebook domain! OR DON’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME WITH YOUR DEAR FACEBOOK!

Sites like FBAction.net, FBStarter.com, nutpic.at, bests.at, areps.at, kirgo.at,  simply asks for you to input your Facebook username and password, with a design that looks similar to that of Facebook.

Don’t give this site your information. If you do, it will proceed to send all of your friends a message telling them to go to there, and hence, the scam will continue to spread like wildfire. Just like what happened on MSN.

Lastly, Apple. This is exciting! Techcruch reports that More evidence of the Apple Tablet surfaced today. Woohoo. Another addition to the mac family?

Read about it here: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/05/21/what-we-know-about-the-apple-tablet-so-far

That’s it for the tech update!

Nastar, O Yeah

So this weekend I am staying over at my church Rev.’s house and his wife taught me how to make nastar. AT LAST! I’ve been craving nastar ever since my Chinese New Year gloomy days :P

Pineapple Tart Quick Recipe!

So what we need over here is:

  • 1 pineapple, of course, cut into slices and grind to be porridge like
  • 3 big soup scoop of sugar (for pineapple filling) + 250 g of sugar (for skin)
  • 250 g of butter
  • 400 g of flour (or more if necessary)
  • 2 eggs
  • small amount of cheese if needed

How we’re gonna make it:

1. Put the porridge-like pineapple into frying pan and let the water evaporate with stirring (don’t let it go burnt). Add 3 soup scoop of sugar. Keep stirring until the water boil off. Put the filling one side.

2. Put 250g sugar in a big bowl, add 250g butter, and 2 eggwhites but 1 yolk only (leave the other yolk for later on). Stir well.

3. Add flour bit by bit and use hand to mix, add until the dough does not stick to the wall of the bowl anymore

4. Take a handful, roll it using hand, use knife to cut into small pieces, make it into a ball

5. Make room for the filling on the ball of dough, insert the pineapple filling, and cover such that no filling can be seen from outside

6. Oil the baking pan, before putting the nastar on it, wipe some butter on the bottom of the nastar

7. Mix a bit of cheese with the remaining of egg yolk, apply this mixture to the top of nastar

8. Bake at 350 deg F for around 25 minutes

9. Finished!

    What Perry Cox Said…

I have been watching Scrubs recently for the… the… 6th time already after 5 times finishing the whole season maybe.. and though most of the principles I do not agree with, I can always learn a thing or two about life.

One of them comes today, and I very much agree with it… Dr. Cox said:

“But still, you might be better served — and, this is a crazy notion — if you could stop worrying so much about who does and doesn’t notice…you. Even for a second…that’d be good; that’d be real good.”

Sometimes we worked too hard just to get noticed by people. Oh man I admit that I agree with it so deeply. Why would I want good grades? So that people can see that I am that GOOD. Or maybe to get into a good job? So that people can see that I’m cool. Or if you don’t care they think about, think about people close to us, like our parents. Sometimes I just felt like I tried TOO HARD to make them notice what I am doing, to tell me that I’m good, to tell their friends about me. As unselfish as that sounds, aren’t we just gonna get tired one day?

What if we’ve got to do something that no one else in the whole world will ever know, will we ever work hard for it? Will we even agree to work on it?

I just hope that I can be faithful enough to the One above, and let Him be the one by whom I wanna get noticed. Isn’t it just perfect?

    Another one…

Sometimes in life we get too excited or even overwhelmed with our daily activities, doing the things we love, the things we hate, getting busy all day and it’s just as if doing nothing is a huge crime. Somewhere along our day to day activities, we lost sight of why we are doing all those, why are we working so hard? why do we aim for good grades? why are we earning so much money? or why do we JUST have to do something? It is a terrible ignorance to brush these thoughts off by saying “I’m just doing for the sake of it”. People need to think and reflect on their lives lest they grow old, look back and regret. The point of no return.

Yes, I am refering to myself here. I need to stop and relook at my original motivation in doing things. Why is doing things so important to me. Along that line, I remember this verse from the Bible. It may be a cliche to most Christians, but maybe it is the least understood, or the hardest to obey.

So, along that line again, I made up this simple wallpaper, clearer on full view, and as usual 1280*800 and 1280*960 for widescreen and non-widescreen. I love how mac comes with a desktop where we can have changing wallpapers for a specified time without any additional programs and stuff, this makes me even more motivated to make more wallpapers. I hope with this we can all be reminded of what is supposed to be our “aim” in life.

    2 Timothy 2:1

Quoting Spurgeon in his Morning and Evening, March 15, Evening:

CHRIST has grace without measure in Himself, but He hath not retained it for Himself. As the reservoir empties itself into the pipes, so hath Christ emptied out His grace for His people. “Of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.”

A special wallpaper inspired by this passage, available in 2 sizes, 1280*800 and 1280*960. Full view please. For more sizes and colours,  please request in the comment section, or talk to me directly. Thanks.

A quick slideshow for an idea about the colours

I’ve also managed to create the iPhone wallpaper version for this in four colours: red, blue, green and of course yellow.

    The Best Apple Ad Ever?

You know when you surfed to apple.com, you’ll see dynamic/changing ads on the first page everytime you refresh. Over the years, Apple has been designing top-notch advertisement. I think their philosophy is be different, don’t look good, look GREAT, advertise with sleek design and further advertisement will be from mouth to mouth (like from this Apple fangirl). Oh, of course the I’m PC I’m Mac ads but I’m pretty sure that’s just for fun, not so much for advertising.

Do people get showcased in their ads? They used to be. Now it’s more of just product + tag line, or software + features. So, Apple fangirl in action presents you this. Click on it for the original large version. Now all of you can say, “YOU WISH!”. Thank you very much.
